What is Orangeburge Pipe?

Orangeburg pipe is a fiber pipe made from layers of wood pulp and pitch tar pressed together.

According to the City of Cedar Rapids, from the 1950s to the 1970s, orangeburg pipe was commonly used for homes in the Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Waterloo, and Dubuque areas.

However, it is susceptible to damage by tree roots and has a tendency to collapse with age.

Why Should you Have Orangeburg Pipes Replaced?

You may not have any problems with the orangeburg pipes at your older home. However, these pipes only tend to last about 30-40 years without causing problems.

Eventually, the years of pressure from topsoil, moisture, trees and shrubs will take a toll on orangeburg pipes.

If you want to have orangeburg pipes replaced, you’ll find that traditional excavation is not only damaging to your landscape but also takes longer. Our trenchless pipe bursting technology removes the need to dig up your yard by replacing the existing orangeburg pipes with brand new sewer lines.
