Inspections
Annual Inspections are performed to check that hydrants are in proper condition and operational. During the inspection, we check for: main valve leaks, obstructions, cracked or missing caps, leaking or broken nozzles, gaskets or valves, and also that the hydrant is at the correct height and whether or not the hydrant needs painted.
Testing
Testing of hydrants is done to determine the pressure and rate of flow available at various locations. The test measures static and residual pressure and the rate discharge. The information found is used to find blockages or infrastructure problems in the water distribution system.
